This weekend, Hand in Hand Water Safety Awareness Foundation held it's first annual Water Safety Day at the Kernersville Public Library in North Carolina. Though the threat of rain moved us from our original outdoor location, everyone was a good sport about the change of venue and many families stopped by to check out our vendors and learn more about keeping their kids safe.
There is a long list of people to thank for their involvement in making this day a success!

Thank you to our generous sponsor, B & H Pool and Patio, along with our partners, Safe Swim NC and Life Saver Pool Fence of the Triad, and our vendors, who so kindly supported us in our first year of hosting this event: The Kids' Clubhouse, Amethyst Vacation, Paparazzi by Crystal Beals, Piedmont Doulas, MaryKay by Robin Scott, Half-Pint Harmonies, and Munchie & Me Face Painting. We're also so appreciative of the Kernersville first responders who joined the event to provide critical safety information to attendees and of Lenny the Lifeguard for entertaining the kids.
Thanks also to Town of Kernersville Alderman, Jenny Fulton, for speaking on behalf of the mayor; music teacher and Asheville-based fellow ISR swim instructor, Shalene Hill of Shalene Swim School; Richard Kauffman and family of The Kels Group, who so graciously travelled all the way from Ohio to share the difficult story of losing his daughter and the importance of drowning prevention; and our volunteers who are such strong advocates of the work we do and graciously dedicated their free time to helping put on this event.
We look forward to watching this event grow in attendance and participation each year and the opportunity to spread the message of drowning prevention in our community!
